The International Research Institute for Maritime, Marine and Fisheries (LRI i-MAR) IPB University held a Knowledge Exchange Workshop on Interdisciplinary Maritime, Ocean and Fisheries Science with speakers from ZMT Bremen, Germany and National Chung Cheng University, Taiwan which was held at the EDTC Meeting Room, PKSPL – IPB University (16/5).
This activity is a collaboration between LRI i-MAR, PKSPL and DAMARS by presenting Rebecca Lahl, M.Sc from ZMT Bremen, Germany, Prof. Li-Chuan Liuhuang from National Chung Cheng University, Taiwan and Dr. Sebastian Ferse from BMT Bremen, Germany, who is also a DAAD Longterm Lecturer at FPIK-IPB University.
The Head of i-MAR, Prof. Luky Adrianto said in the opening of the workshop that, “Knowledge is full of uncertainty and continues to develop. This workshop is an important instrument as a way to transfer knowledge and increase insight to the audience in this case academics in the marine field and related fields, to help them understand knowledge.”
In addition, the Secretary of i-MAR and also the head of the workshop, Dr. Kustiariyah Tarman introduced three experienced speakers and also explained that, “The workshop on knowledge exchange aims to connect science as the basis of every activity, with the social community and policy makers,” he said.
The activity was continued with a Strategic Lecture presented by Rebecca Lahl on “Introduction to knowledge exchange & co-design of projects for increased societal relevance”. Next, Prof. Li Chuan Liuhuang with “Common concepts, tools and approaches for effective knowledge exchange”, and the last speaker who always provides support for i-MAR activities is Dr. Sebastian Ferse who delivered about “Define, support and assess the societal impact of science”.
The Head of PKSPL, Prof. Yonvitner at the end of the event explained that this moment is not only to share knowledge, but also to strengthen collaboration between stakeholders in the marine sector and as an action plan for collaborative marine research or policy development. The Workshop participants were attended by most students, lecturers and researchers. Apart from IPB, participants who attended offline included Diponegoro University, Padjadjaran University, BRIN and the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, while online participants were lecturers and students from UGM, Jambi University, Mulawarman University, Hasanuddin University, and the International Maritime University of Panama (DY).
